Your store keeps selling. Even when the internet doesn't.
WiFi drops. Routers freeze. Connections go down on the busiest nights. It happens — and when it does, your register keeps running, every transaction is saved, and your customers never notice a thing.
A connection issue is an IT problem. Not a business problem.
For most POS systems, losing internet means losing the ability to take payments. Staff scramble, customers wait, and every minute of downtime costs real revenue. For a liquor store — especially on a Friday night or during a holiday rush — that's not acceptable.
ONUS Offline Mode, powered by Clover, switches seamlessly the moment your connection drops. Payments are accepted, transactions are queued, and everything is submitted and processed automatically once you're back online. No manual catch-up. No disruption to your customers. Your store runs. Period.
Built so a WiFi outage is never a revenue outage.
Sales continue without interruption.
When the internet goes down, your Clover device keeps accepting payments — cards, contactless, and manual entries — exactly as it does when online. Your customers never know anything happened.
Transactions queued and auto-submitted.
Every offline payment is securely stored on the device. The moment your connection is restored, transactions are automatically submitted for authorization — no staff action required.
Up to 7 days of offline operation.
Your devices can continue taking offline payments for up to 7 days — giving you full coverage through extended outages, not just brief blips.
Enabled by default on every key device.
Offline Mode comes pre-enabled on Clover Station, Station 2, Clover Mini, Flex, and Mobile — so you're protected from day one without any setup required.
You decide every offline limit.
There is no Clover-imposed cap. You set the maximum amount per offline transaction, the total offline cap on a device, and the approval threshold for larger amounts — all defined by your store, enforced automatically.
Connection issues happen. Lost sales shouldn't.
Internet outages during peak hours
Friday nights, holiday weekends, and busy events — exactly when you can't afford downtime.
Offline Mode keeps your busiest moments uninterrupted, no matter what happens to your connection.
Staff confusion at the register
A dropped connection creates panic at the counter, slowing every customer interaction.
Staff keep working exactly as they always do — the system handles everything behind the scenes.
No visibility into what happened offline
Outages used to leave gaps — no clear record of what was sold or when.
Every offline transaction is logged, queued, and submitted with a full record — so you always know exactly what was processed.
Every dollar limit is yours to set.
There is no Clover-imposed amount. Configure how offline payments are handled across each device — per-transaction limits, total cap, and approval thresholds are all defined by your store. Adjust any value through your Clover dashboard or directly on the device itself.
Per-transaction limit
Set the maximum dollar amount for any single offline payment — the figure is entirely yours to choose. Transactions above your limit are declined or held for merchant approval, protecting you from large-value risk during an outage.
Total offline payment cap
Set a cumulative limit across all offline transactions on a device. Once your total is reached, the device stops accepting offline payments — giving you a hard ceiling on your exposure that you control.
Merchant approval threshold
Require manual approval for any offline payment above an amount you choose. This keeps your team in control of higher-value transactions when the connection is down.
Offline Mode is powerful — and designed to be used responsibly.
When you accept a payment offline, you are accepting a degree of risk. If a card is declined, expired, or cancelled when the transaction is submitted, that payment will not go through. To manage this:
Set per-transaction limits that reflect a reasonable risk threshold for your store.
Use the merchant approval feature for higher-value transactions during outages.
Note that EBT and gift card payments are not supported in Offline Mode.
These safeguards are built into the system so you can use Offline Mode with confidence — not hesitation.
The last thing you need during a rush is a system failure.
Requires nothing from your staff
Offline Mode activates when the connection drops and deactivates when it returns. Your team doesn't change a thing — they just keep selling.
Protects you without exposing you
The configurable limit system means you're never blindly accepting risk. You decide how much offline exposure is acceptable — per transaction and in total — and the system enforces it automatically.
Works across every device
Every Clover device can be configured independently. One station can have a $100 offline limit while another has $200 — depending on where it's used and what it typically handles.
A reliable store doesn't depend on a reliable WiFi signal.
ONUS Offline Mode means your business isn't held hostage by your internet connection. Whatever happens to your connection — your store stays open, your team keeps working, and everything settles cleanly on the other side.
